Metadata is the Achilles heel of video. These shorthand textual descriptions can be employed for more detailed searching, classification or other organizing, but, when scale is required, machine-generated metadata has accuracy issues.
On the other hand, the huge volume of video on the web makes human validation prohibitively expensive, so much video searching misses a lot of what’s visually there.
To solve this issue, a Singapore-based organization called AIVON has launched a blockchain-based open protocol that combines AI with human crowdsourcing to support the creation and validation of text and metadata for what it describes as the first decentralized "video search engine", as well as translation, transcription and brand-safety applications.
AIVON is the first blockchain-based platform to combine AI and human expertise to incentivize and standardize accurate metadata, delivering up to ten times more information per scene. The AIVON network will be incentivized to analyze video content and generate enhanced metadata through AIVON’s own token. AIVON’s token ecosystem can be used by end users, freelancers, content providers, service providers, advertisers, etc.
AIVON will be governed by a non-profit foundation controlled by voting members of the Aivon community. Advertising applications using this protocol will be for-profit. In addition, AIVON is using open-source protocol, other organizations/companies will be able to build their own search engines or other decentralized apps, such as content rights management, using AIVON protocol and community of incentivized human validators.
AIVON was founded by Rex Wong, a technology veteran who was the Co-Founder and CEO of DAVE.TV, an IPTV pioneer and a founder of iVideoSmart, which will become one of the first video content platforms to integrate AIVON. iVideoSmart currently reaches more than 500 million addressable users globally, and powers media and mobile operators like GMA, MCIL, CTiTV, Vewd, VLC, Hungama, Axiata throughout Asia.
AIVON FEATURE
A key feature of the AIVON platform is its ContentGraph, a tool that uses AI to define a confidence score for content safety attributes including adult content and hate speech. These confidence scores will be combined into a vector called ContentGraph, which can be utilized by content distributors, producers, and advertisers to ensure brand safety.
AIVON also aims to solve many of the online video industry problems including the lack of searchability and discoverability, proper metadata and indexing, and localization. To properly solve such problems, AIVON utilizes AI for video analyzing to scan and normalize metadata tagging. However, the accuracy of AI is imperfect, therefore with human experts network can increase the accuracy of metadata, transcription and translation.
AIVON TOKEN: AVO
AIVON is preparing to launch a token sale in November 2018 to fund the development of the AIVON protocol and ecosystem. The AIVON’s tokens, AVO, generated via the Ethereum blockchain protocol and can be redeemed on open token exchanges or used to buy content or other products offered in the iVideoSmart platform or by Aivon community members. They can also be earned and used by content providers, advertisers, AI providers and others in the ecosystem.
